Use of Computer Technology in Cadet Colleges

Optimum use of computer technology can be ensured in Cadet Colleges. Every Cadet College has a Computer Lab with internet connection. Some Cadets take computer science as an optional subject. Sometimes teacher use multimedia projector as a teaching aid. Cadets display their stage programmes using power point presentations, download required information from internet for their curricular and extra- curricular activities. Computer technology can be used in a better way and  officials and cadets can get more facilities if some steps are taken.
1.           Computers of the college should be brought under local networking system (LAN). Of-course some cadet colleges have done it already. If computers are brought under LAN system, facilities will be multiplied. Users can share files and folders instantly, and can get their document printed from one printer connected with the system. Cadet colleges can be upgraded by installing office automation with the help of a reputed computer firm and I strongly recommend it.
2.           Now-a-days website is not only a source of information but also an identity. Every cadet college should have a website where information about college,  results of various examinations,  achievements, schedule of activities etc. can be posted, so members of cadet colleges and others can be benefited. Students can create blogs where they can write articles, poems, stories and exchange ideas among themselves. Teachers can also keep their lecture sheets, handouts in their blogs and students can get it when needed.
3.           There is a subject ‘Arts and Crafts’ in cadet colleges and inter-house and inter-cadet college art competitions are held. Now it is the demand of the age that cadets should have skill on graphic designing. So they should be trained on ‘Illustrator’ and ‘Photoshop’ and inter-cadet college graphic designing competition can be arranged.
4.           Cadets should be given primary knowledge of web designing and software developing, which will help them if they want to pursue higher study on computer science. For maintenance of the system and proper training of the cadets skilled and qualified computer teachers should be appointed.
          We hope all concerned will cooperate to set up a system so that cadet colleges go a step farther and we can establish a digital Bangladesh
